Germany opts for renewable energy, closes down 84 coal driven factories

The increase in global warming is primarily caused by CO2 emissions. Coal driven factories acts as a prime contributor towards CO2 emissions. Germany has decided to contribute towards the health of our mother earth by shutting out is 84 coal used factories within 19 years. By 2038, Germany will have no factory which will contribute towards ozone depletion
.
“This is a historic accomplishment,” said Ronald Pofalla, chairman of the 28-member government commission, at a news conference in Berlin following a marathon 21-hour negotiating session that concluded at 6 a.m. Saturday. The breakthrough ended seven months of wrangling. “It was anything but a sure thing. But we did it,” Pofalla said. “There won’t be any more coal-burning plants in Germany by 2038.”

About 40 % of Germanys energy is obtained through coal. Hence cutting down on coal consumption is quite difficult for the country. Germany has shut down its nuclear plants by 2022 , again showing a bold movement towards saving the nature by closing down its factories.
An estimated about 54 Billion dollars will required by Germany to shift to renewable sources of energy.  Its aim is to opt for various sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources to run its factories.

Though Germany wants to contribute in saving the world it has to face a lot of hurdles on its way. Governments of other countries are not approving towards the plan as its expensive and also leads to a loss in employment and worldwide trade as well.

In spite of the odds Germany has decided to follow its commitment towards nature and shut down 24 plants in the first three years .  By 2030 Germany will be left with only 8 coal burning factories which will produce 17 gigawatts of electricity .
